FREE DARTS PRACTICE TOOL

Find your
finish.

A darts checkout calculator for scores from 2 to 170. Choose how many darts you have left, find a valid double-out route, then practise the decision as well as the throw.

What’s left on the board?

100 with up to 3 darts

T20 → D20

S = single · D = double · T = treble · 25 = outer bull · Bull = 50. One valid route is shown; it is not the only route or a guarantee of the best choice for your throw.

How a double-out checkout works

In standard 501 double-out play, the final dart must reduce the score to exactly zero by landing in a double. The inner bull scores 50 and can finish a leg. With three darts, the highest checkout is 170: treble 20, treble 20, bull. With two darts it is 110; with one dart it is 50.

This tool checks the arithmetic for one, two and three darts. It favours shorter routes and familiar doubles. It cannot know your strengths, the match situation or which segment you might miss into. If you miss, enter the score actually remaining and calculate again.

Which scores cannot be finished in three darts?

Between 2 and 170, the three-dart bogey numbers are 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169. There is no legal double-out route from these totals within three darts. A score of 1 cannot be checked out on a double. The practical job is to leave a finish for your next visit rather than force an impossible route.

Rules reference: Darts Regulation Authority rules, starting and finishing. Event formats can differ; follow the rules for your game.

Three routines to make your checkout practice useful

01 · Doubles

Thirty darts at one double

Choose D20 or D16. Throw ten visits of three darts and count hits out of 30. Keep the target fixed for the session. Next time, repeat the same drill before changing the target so the comparison means something.

02 · Counting

Say the route before throwing

Start on 40, then 52, 64, 76 and 88. Say your intended route aloud, throw one visit, and record the remaining score. After a miss, pause and work out the next route before throwing again. This is a decision drill, not a race.

03 · Pressure

Five visits to finish

Pick a score you can realistically attack, such as 40 or 60. Give yourself five visits to finish, updating the remaining score after each visit under your usual bust rules. Record whether you finished and how many darts it took; repeat five times and compare sessions.
